Gate-side caffeine fix in Terminal 1
This Starbucks sits airside in Terminal 1 at Richmond (RIC), so you’re covered for coffee after security. It’s the standard airport build: espresso bar, pastry case, cold drinks, and a small grab-and-go fridge. Expect familiar pricing with most grande lattes landing in the $5–$7 range and breakfast sandwiches in the $4–$7 window.
Hours usually track the morning bank of departures, opening around the first flights of the day and running until early evening, but closing times can slide earlier on Saturdays and slower travel days. If you have a 6:00 a.m. departure out of Terminal 1, this is your realistic shot at caffeine without leaving the concourse.
Menu is the usual national lineup: brewed Pike Place, cold brew, refreshers, and seasonal drinks, plus the standard rotation of breakfast sandwiches, protein boxes, and pastries. Grande drip coffee runs around $3–$4, and refresher drinks push closer to $6–$7. Food is all pre-made and reheated, so treat it like a quick refuel, not a sit-down meal.
Lines spike right before those 6:00–8:00 a.m. departures, especially on Mondays, and again in the 4:00–6:00 p.m. outbound window. With only one store in Terminal 1, you can see a 10–15 minute wait for hot drinks. Mobile ordering through the Starbucks app often works here and can cut that wait down to a couple of minutes if bar flow is decent.
Seating is minimal around the storefront, so plan to grab your drink and head back to your gate, especially near the B and C gate clusters. Power outlets are more reliable at the gate areas than around the shop itself.
Tip: If you’re tight on time, stick to brewed coffee or cold brew; those usually come out in under 3 minutes even when the line stretches past 10 people.
