Snack Bar

Gate-side Snack Bar option in Terminal 1

Snack Bar sits past security in Terminal 1, a quick walk from most RIC gates, and fills the basic need: cold drinks, packaged snacks, and quick bites before boarding. It’s more grab-and-go counter than sit-down restaurant, so think minutes, not an hour-long meal. Expect airport-standard pricing, a couple of dollars above street level for drinks and chips.

Food is simple: pre-made sandwiches, chips, candy bars, and occasionally a hot item in a warmer. You’ll usually find sodas, bottled water, and canned energy drinks stocked in coolers, plus single-serve coffees and teas. If you just want a turkey sandwich and a drink before your flight out of Terminal 1, Snack Bar does that without much fuss.

There’s limited seating nearby, often just a few chairs or shared tables within sight of the counter, so plan to carry your food back to your gate. Turn time on orders stays short because everything is pre-packaged; you’re rarely waiting more than five minutes, even if two or three people are ahead of you. This works well for tight departures from smaller RIC gates.

Hours track early bank departures: usually open for the first wave of morning flights and staying open into the evening, though late-night options after the last departures out of Terminal 1 can be thin. If you land on one of the last flights into RIC, expect Snack Bar shutters down by the time you walk off the jet bridge.

Tip: If you need a real meal and have at least 45 minutes before boarding, walk the Terminal 1 concourse first; use Snack Bar mainly as the fallback for drinks and packaged snacks close to your gate.
