Business Center

RIC’s “Business Center” is basically a public work zone

The Business Center at Richmond International Airport sits inside Terminal 1 and operates as an open, public work area rather than a staffed lounge with reception, food, or showers. Anyone in the terminal can sit down here; there’s no airline status, no day pass, and no fee gatekeeping access.

This space sits landside in Terminal 1, so you use it before TSA, not near any specific gate like B10 or A3. That makes it a pre-security spot to answer email or print a document, but not somewhere to wait if your flight already boards from a nearby gate in 30 minutes.

Think desks, chairs, and some power outlets instead of bar, buffet, or barista. You won’t find free alcohol, soup kettles, or snack jars here, and there’s no staffed front desk to sort out flight issues or print boarding passes beyond whatever self-service PCs or printers the airport provides.

Hours generally track overall Terminal 1 operating times, opening early enough for the first bank of morning departures around 5:00–6:00 a.m. and staying accessible into the late evening departure wave. Still, don’t rely on this for true 24/7 access the way some big-hub lounges near international banks do.

Because access is public, the Business Center can fill up whenever multiple flights leave within the same 90-minute window, especially during weekday business peaks tied to the 7:00–9:00 a.m. and 4:00–6:00 p.m. departure blocks. Unlike a paid lounge with occupancy caps, there’s no guarantee of a quiet seat right when you want it.

Food and drinks stay outside the space, so plan on grabbing coffee or a sandwich from the regular Terminal 1 concessions before you sit down. Expect standard airport pricing in the $3–$5 range for coffee and $10–$15 for basic meals at the nearby restaurants, since the Business Center itself doesn’t sell anything.

For RIC, this is more “free shared office” than lounge, so treat it like extra seating with power and a slightly more work-focused layout. One practical tip: finish any printing or computer tasks here at least 45 minutes before departure so you have time to clear security and walk to your gate in Terminal 1 without stress.
