Gate-side Portuguese books and gifts in T1

This Livraria Cultura sits airside in Terminal T1, handy if you’ve cleared security early and want something better than duty-free perfume to stare at. It’s a real bookshop, not just bestsellers-on-a-cart, with shelves of Portuguese titles and some English options mixed in. Expect prices a bit higher than downtown Recife, but still reasonable for an airport.

You’ll find the usual mix: novels, travel guides for Pernambuco and the Nordeste, kids’ books, plus notebooks and small stationery items that actually help on a 7+ hour flight. Stock skews heavily to Portuguese; if you need English reading, plan on hunting the shelves rather than a dedicated section. Figure 10–20 minutes to browse properly before boarding from nearby T1 gates.

Non-book stock leans toward gifts you can hand over right off the plane: Brazilian-themed souvenirs, a few Recife-specific items, and media like CDs or DVDs, though that selection keeps shrinking year by year. Prices on souvenirs land in normal airport range, think under R$100 for most small items. It’s easier to grab a last-minute present here than in the food courts of T1.

Hours track typical REC flight banks, opening early morning for 06:00-ish departures and staying open into late-night connections, but closing during very slow overnight stretches. If you’re landing after midnight, don’t count on it being open. Tip: if you see something you like on arrival, buy it then; stock can rotate and might not be there when you depart from T1 a few days later.
