Recife/Guararapes - Gilberto Freyre International Airport, area international near gate B17

No English trip reports list Sala VIP Azul Recife at REC.

This Azul-branded lounge operates in the domestic area of Terminal T1 at Recife/Guararapes – Gilberto Freyre International Airport, mainly for Azul business-class passengers and elites flying inside Brazil. That means if you’re on Azul in economy with no status, you’re not walking in here on a Priority Pass or pay-per-use swipe. Check your boarding pass for an Azul domestic flight out of REC T1 before you go hunting for the desk.

Azul runs a heavy domestic schedule at Recife, with dozens of daily departures, so the lounge concept here is mostly about giving business-class and elite passengers a quieter spot than the main T1 seating. Access ties strictly to Azul: business-class cabin, TudoAzul elites, and sometimes elites from partners on codeshares, but you should confirm at check-in. Don’t expect access if you’re flying GOL or LATAM; security at REC T1 funnels everyone together, but this is an Azul-only room.

Because this Sala VIP barely shows up in international databases, set expectations lower than for the big-name Azul lounges at Campinas (VCP) or Belo Horizonte (CNF). Figure on standard Brazilian domestic lounge basics: coffee machines, soft drinks, and a few light snacks rather than plated hot meals. If you want a proper sit-down meal, use the main T1 food court before heading here; REC’s terminal has multiple fast-food counters and cafés along the domestic concourse that stay open around the main bank of Azul departures.

Hours track Azul’s domestic waves, so early-morning departures around 05:00–07:00 and evening banks around 18:00–21:00 are when this lounge is most likely open. Midday gaps in the schedule at REC sometimes mean scaled-back service or doors shut; check the Azul app or ask at the check-in desk before walking all the way down the concourse. Give yourself at least 15–20 minutes from security in T1 to reach the lounge, find a seat, grab a drink, and still be at a nearby gate 10 minutes before boarding time.

Practical tip: at check-in in T1, explicitly ask the Azul agent, in Portuguese or English, “Sala VIP Azul Recife está aberta agora?” before you head to security; that 10-second question can save you a pointless detour if the lounge is closed or at capacity.
