Gate-side burgers in T1 without leaving security

CharGrill in Terminal 1 sits past security on the main concourse, so you can grab a burger without backtracking toward the ticketing counters. It’s a local Raleigh chain, so this isn’t another anonymous airport brand. Expect a basic fast-food setup with counter ordering and food handed over in a paper bag you can take straight to gates around the 1–9 range.

The menu at CharGrill sticks to burgers, hot dogs, fries, and shakes, with combo meals usually landing in the $10–$15 range depending on add‑ons. Burgers come off a flat-top grill to order rather than from a heat lamp, which can slow things down slightly at peak times. Portions run larger than what you’d get from a typical national chain value menu, and you can easily split one fry order between two people to keep costs down.

Drink options include fountain sodas, bottled water, and milkshakes, which run a few dollars more than a regular drink but are the main upgrade over a standard fast-food stop in T1. If you have a shorter layover, aim for a burger and drink only; you’ll usually be in and out in under 15 minutes outside of heavy midday departures around the 11:00–14:00 window. Seats are limited right at the counter, so plan to carry your tray back toward your gate.

You’ll find CharGrill roughly midway along the Terminal 1 concourse, so it’s an easy walk from Frontier and Southwest gates in the low single digits. If your flight departs from a far end gate like 8 or 9, budget a 5–7 minute walk back after picking up your order. Final tip: order your fries well-done when you reach the counter; staff know the request and they hold up better if you’re walking your food back to a gate-area seat.
