Gate D1 sits almost across from the United Club doors.
The United Club at RDU is in Terminal 2 by gates D1 and D3, so you stay close to most United departures instead of backtracking across the concourse. If your flight leaves from another D gate, you’re talking just a few minutes’ walk, which makes it an easy pre-board base instead of killing time in the main seating areas.
Hours run daily from 5:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., which covers the first United departures and most evening flights from Terminal 2. Early-morning flyers can head straight here after clearing security at T2, then walk back to D1–D9 when boarding starts. Late departures that push close to 7:30 p.m. might have you finishing the wait at the gate once staff start closing down.
Access is limited to travelers flying United out of Terminal 2, using the usual United Club membership, eligible Star Alliance premium-cabin tickets, or one-time passes. There’s no access from Terminal 1, since RDU doesn’t have an airside connection between T1 and T2; you’d need to clear security again to get back to a Southwest or Frontier flight in T1, which kills the value.
Food and drink follow the standard United Club formula, so think light snacks rather than a full meal. Expect basics like cold items and simple bites without the sit-down restaurant feel you’d find at some larger hubs. If you want a proper hot meal at RDU, plan to grab something in the main Terminal 2 food court before heading to the club, then use the lounge for quieter seats and drinks.
Power outlets matter here because D1–D9 gate seating fills up fast during the morning and late-afternoon banks. Inside the club you usually have better odds of finding a plug next to a chair than out in the main terminal, especially around the 6:00–8:00 a.m. wave of departures. Wi‑Fi uses the United network, which is typically more stable than the shared RDU public signal.
Practical tip: if your United flight leaves from a distant gate like D9, show up at the club around 45–60 minutes before departure, grab a drink, keep an eye on the app, then walk out when boarding groups start rather than waiting for the first call over the speakers.
