Capital One Lounge

2

Gate-side in Terminal 2, the Capital One Lounge sits past security near the main concourse split.

This is RDU’s only full-service bank-branded lounge in Terminal 2, open to Capital One Venture X and select cardholders flying out of gates like C1–C25. Entry lives airside, so you need a same-day boarding pass from Terminal 2 carriers such as Delta, American, or JetBlue. Figure a 5–7 minute walk from TSA to the front desk if PreCheck lines cooperate.

Hours generally run from early morning through the last evening departures, roughly matching the 5:00–22:00 bank of flights out of Terminal 2. Capacity runs tight in the 06:00–08:00 and 16:00–18:00 banks when Delta to ATL and American to CLT both pulse, so plan on earlier arrivals if you want a seat near the windows looking toward gates C10–C15.

Food follows the Capital One template with a mix of small plates and grab-and-go items, typically including hot breakfast like eggs and potatoes before 10:00 and a rotation of sandwiches and salads after. All items sit behind the check-in point, so you can’t pop in for a to-go box without scanning a same-day boarding pass. Coffee machines, soft drinks, and basic snacks run self-serve most of the day.

Alcohol is included, with draft beer, house wine, and basic spirits poured from a staffed bar that usually opens by 10:30. Premium liquor often carries a surcharge in the $5–$10 range per pour, similar to other Capital One lounges at IAD and DFW. If you have a morning flight before 09:00, expect a more coffee-and-pastry setup than a full bar vibe.

Access primarily goes to Capital One Venture X and eligible Capital One cardholders, plus their guests subject to the issuer’s current policy, which has shifted in the last 12–18 months to limit free guesting. Day-pass options, when available, typically sit in the $45–$65 range, roughly in line with Priority Pass-style lounges, but check your card’s app before you pay cash.

Seating splits between standard lounge chairs, a few work pods with power outlets, and communal tables with 110V plugs and USB-A ports at nearly every seat. Wi‑Fi is free, using the Capital One SSID, and usually clocks in fast enough for a 5–10 Mbps video call to hold steady before a flight to hubs like LGA or ORD.

Practical tip: you clear security at Terminal 2’s central checkpoint, so budget 20–25 minutes from curb to lounge during the 06:00–08:00 rush; once you’re checked in, set a hard alarm 30 minutes before boarding if you’re at gates beyond C20 to avoid a last‑minute sprint.
