Bus 159 gets you from Terminal 1 to Poznań center fast
Bus line 159 is the main Airport–City Shuttle between Poznań-Ławica (POZ) Terminal 1 and the city. The stop sits directly in front of the terminal exit, about a 1–2 minute walk from arrivals. You pay standard Poznań public transport fares, not a special airport premium.
The Airport–City Shuttle runs on regular city timetables under the number 159, usually every 15–30 minutes in daytime depending on the hour and day. Late evenings and early mornings thin out, so check the exact schedule if your flight lands after 22:00 or before 05:00. Ride time to the city is about 25–30 minutes in normal traffic.
Tickets for bus 159 cost the same as any ZTM Poznań urban ticket, with a standard single-ride time ticket covering the whole airport–city trip. You can buy from ticket machines at the terminal or at some stops, which usually accept cards and coins, then validate on board in the yellow machine. Inspectors do ride these routes, so skip the “I’ll risk it” plan.
Bus 159 links the airport with key city points, including Poznań Główny railway station, where you can change to regional and long-distance trains. The route also passes major streets with tram and other bus connections, so you can hop off earlier if your hotel sits before the station. The same line runs in both directions, signed clearly for the airport or for the city.
There’s no extra luggage fee on bus 159, but space near the doors fills quickly if two or three flights land together. The bus uses standard city vehicles, not dedicated coaches, so expect standing room at peak times around 07:00–09:00 and late afternoon. If you land with a stroller or oversized sports gear, wait for the next bus if the first one looks packed.
One practical move: buy a longer-duration ZTM ticket (for example a 24-hour ticket) at the airport machine if you plan to use trams and buses after you reach the city. That saves you hunting for another machine at midnight outside Poznań Główny.
