First Class passengers at POS end up in the same worn lounge

At Piarco International’s North Terminal, the so-called First Class Lounge runs daily from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM, but reports suggest this is effectively the same tired VIP space people mention on local forums, not a separate premium product. Access is tied to flying in First Class, though the actual hard separation from the regular VIP Flyers’ Club is murky at best.

This lounge sits airside in the North Terminal, after security, so at least you are near gates for regional and international departures once you’re inside. Expect standard seating, basic snacks, and soft drinks rather than anything resembling a flagship First Class setup you’d find in Miami or London. One Facebook commenter even said they enjoyed the Goose Island bar downstairs more than their time upstairs.

Physically, the biggest gripe is visible aging: multiple travellers mention clear wear and tear on furniture and finishes, from scuffed floors to tired upholstery. Seating is described as “plentiful,” so finding a chair at 7:00 AM before the US bank of departures is usually not the problem; the issue is that much of it feels overdue for a refurb.

Food and drink are described as very basic, closer to a domestic US credit card lounge from 2010 than a modern First Class space. Think small bites and standard drinks rather than a hot buffet or premium liquor list. One traveller said the lounge was “ok in a pinch” but chose to spend more time at the Goose Island bar on the concourse instead, even when they had access upstairs.

Set expectations accordingly: this is still better than waiting at a crowded gate when the North Terminal gets busy in the evening bank from about 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, but it’s not a destination in itself. If you value atmosphere or craft drinks, budget time and cash for a stop at the bar downstairs, then head up to the lounge closer to boarding just for seating and Wi‑Fi.

Practical tip: if your First Class ticket gives you access, use the lounge mainly for quiet seats and bathrooms; grab your main meal and any decent coffee or beer in the public concourse before heading up.
