Bird Lounge

PNQ’s “Bird Lounge” name is outdated; NITB layout has changed

Apps still list a Bird Lounge in Terminal 1 at Pune (PNQ), landside, but current NITB layouts and airline info don’t show an active lounge under that name. Treat “Bird Lounge” as either rebranded, merged into another contract lounge, or fully closed. Don’t plan a tight connection around using it.

Old entries usually place Bird Lounge in Terminal 1, landside, before security, with paid access and some memberships accepted, but the current NITB setup at PNQ handles most domestic traffic through a consolidated check-in and security flow. If your boarding pass says NITB and staff at the entrance don’t recognise the Bird Lounge name, assume the listing is legacy data.

Because the lounge is (or was) landside, using it would mean sitting before security while most food and shopping at PNQ now cluster airside in NITB. With domestic flights often boarding 30–40 minutes before departure, staying landside too long cuts your buffer for security and any last‑minute gate change. Build the buffer and clear security first if you’re unsure what actually exists behind check‑in.

Paid access and memberships for the historic Bird Lounge listing usually mirrored other Indian contract lounges in the ₹1,200–₹2,000 band, often tying into Priority Pass or credit‑card programs, but there’s no reliable 2024‑era data confirming active swipe machines under the Bird Lounge label at PNQ. If a card app still shows it, treat that as generic “domestic lounge” tagging, not a guarantee of a specific door with a Bird sign.

On the ground, PNQ security staff and airline check‑in counters in NITB are your best real‑time source: ask if any third‑party lounge is open landside or airside, and note the exact name and level they give you. Take 2–3 photos of the entrance and nameboard if you find something; that’s the only way to keep your own notes ahead of slow‑to‑update lounge apps.

Practical tip: Assume there is no usable Bird Lounge at PNQ today; aim to clear security into NITB within 60 minutes of departure and plan to eat or sit at the gate unless airport staff confirm a current lounge by name on your date of travel.
