Steel City News Core

Gate-side magazines and snacks near Main Terminal departures

Steel City News Core sits in the Main Terminal at Pittsburgh International Airport, right along the concourse traffic heading toward the airside train. It runs typical airport hours, usually opening early with the first departures and staying open through the last evening banks. You’ll see the usual newsstand mix: bottled drinks, candy bars, gum, a wall of chips, plus print magazines and a few Pittsburgh-themed souvenirs.

Figure on airport pricing: bottled water around $4, candy $3–$5, and basic travel chargers in the $20–$30 range. Coffee and grab-and-go pastries show up in the morning rush, and the coolers hold soda, juice, and energy drinks for quick turnarounds. If you only have 5–10 minutes before boarding from nearby Main gates, this is a quick in-and-out stop without walking deeper into the concourses.

Stock skews toward last-minute needs: neck pillows, eye masks, phone cables, basic pain relievers, and tiny toiletries under TSA’s 3.4 oz limit. Kids’ activity books and puzzle magazines help for longer flights out of PIT’s Main Terminal. If you’re chasing Steelers or Penguins gear, you’ll find a small rack here, but the larger team stores airside have more sizes and selection.

Practical play: grab water and snacks here before you join a long boarding line at a nearby Main gate; it’s faster than hoping for the cart service once you’re in your seat.
