Made-to-order salads in PIT’s Airside Core

At Farm Fresh Deli in the Airside Core of Pittsburgh International (post-security Main terminal), the draw is real vegetables and custom salads instead of heat-lamp burgers. Hours run roughly 04:00–19:00, so it catches the 6 a.m. bank and most flights out through early evening. Figure mid-range pricing ($$) by airport standards, more than a Strip District deli, less than a white-tablecloth sit-down spot.

Menu focus is sandwiches and salads built to order, plus a cooler with pre-made wraps and drinks for true sprint-to-gate situations. A Google reviewer called the turkey sandwich “solid,” and another singled out the “actual veggies and decent salads,” which is not a given in many terminals. Expect deli basics: turkey, ham, cheese, greens, plus dressings that skew standard rather than gourmet. Portions tend to be lunch-sized, not tiny snack boxes.

Lines get slow during the 07:00–09:00 and 16:00–18:00 banks because every sandwich and salad is assembled in front of you. If you’re trying to thread a 35-minute connection, this is the wrong line. Regulars hit it before 11:00 when ingredient bins are still full; late-afternoon reviews mention they sometimes run out of popular items like certain breads or greens.

Price complaints mostly compare it to local Pittsburgh spots off-airport, not to other PIT concessions. Expect to pay several dollars more than a street-level deli for something like a turkey sandwich or big salad, but still under what you’d drop at a full-service bar and grill by the gates. The cooler helps if you just want a yogurt, snack box, or bottled drink without waiting behind custom orders.

Tip: If salad matters to you, stop here right after security in the Airside Core, then carry it to quieter seating by your exact gate in A, B, C, or D rather than eating in the central hub.
