Real tacos in T4 at Gate A20
Blanco Tacos + Tequila sits in Terminal 4 near gate A20, and it’s one of the few sit-down spots at PHX doing Sonoran-style tacos with an actual bar. Rating sits around 4.0 stars and prices land in the $$ range, so expect airport markups on margaritas and tacos. It’s post-security in the A concourse, an easy stop if you’re flying American out of T4.
Hours run 12:00–21:00 Monday–Thursday, 11:00–22:00 Friday–Saturday, and 11:00–21:00 on Sunday, so lunch and dinner are covered but early-morning flyers are out of luck. Figure $16–$20 for taco plates and similar for many tequila drinks, which lines up with the “$18 tacos hurt” reviews. This is more sit-down restaurant than quick grab-and-go, so build in time.
The play here is classic Sonoran: carne asada tacos, chips and salsa, and guac. Several fliers call out the chips and salsa as some of the best they’ve had in an airport, which is a high bar at a US hub. Margaritas get mixed feedback, with multiple reviews saying they taste weak for the price, so if you care about pour strength, maybe stick to straight tequila or beer.
Watch out for slow service and waits for a table during the 17:00–20:00 dinner rush, especially Thursday and Sunday nights when T4 is slammed with departures. Portions run on the smaller side for the cost, mentioned in several Google reviews, so don’t roll in starving with only 40 minutes before boarding. This is the spot for a real meal when you’ve got a one- to two-hour layover, not a fast bite on a short connection.
One practical tip: if your flight leaves from a nearby A gate like A18 or A22, ask for the check as soon as your mains hit; PHX boarding often starts a full 40 minutes before departure at T4 and that can sneak up on you.
