Local Tucson beer before A9 boarding calls
Ten minutes from most A gates in Terminal 4, Barrio Brewing Co brings its Tucson beer lineup airside with a full bar and kitchen near gate A9. Hours run roughly 4:00–20:00, so it works for early departures and dinner flights but not true red-eyes. Figure mid-$$ pricing: pints cost more than at the downtown Tucson brewery, but in PHX terms it’s middle of the pack.
On draft, look for Barrio Blonde and Citrazona IPA as the go-tos; a Google reviewer even calls a pre-flight Blonde “kind of a ritual” before late flights. The bar area seats a decent number of people, and you can usually grab a stool for just a beer faster than a table for food. It’s all post-security in Terminal 4, so you’re fine staying here until about 30 minutes before boarding if you’re at A9–A13.
Food leans brewpub: burgers, wings, salads, and a few sandwiches, mostly in the $15–$20 range before tax and tip. Multiple reviews complain of 20–25 minute ticket times for burgers, even when the dining room isn’t full, so don’t cut it close. Vegetarian choices are thinner than many airport brewpubs; expect maybe a veggie burger or salad rather than a long meat-free section.
Watch out for the check: several regulars of the Tucson locations call out noticeably higher prices at this Sky Harbor outpost, especially on beer flights and appetizers. Service itself gets described as friendly, but the kitchen lag means a 40-minute sit-down isn’t unusual during peak 17:00–19:00 bank times. If your flight boards at 18:30, you want your order in before 17:45.
Tip: If you only have 20–25 minutes at Terminal 4 A gates, skip full meals and grab a quick pint of Barrio Blonde at the bar, pay as soon as you’re poured, and walk to A9 with time to spare.
