United Club

C

Free drinks and quiet seats beat C-gate chaos here

This United Club sits in the Terminal C/D link at Philadelphia International Airport, serving mostly United flyers heading out of gates C16–C28. It’s a basic outstation setup, not a Polaris-style flagship, but it gives you four walls, power outlets, and a bar, which already feels like an upgrade over the terminal chairs outside.

Access runs through the standard United ladder: United Club membership, eligible Star Alliance premium tickets, and one-time passes when United sells them. You need to be past security in the C/D side of PHL; there’s no access from A-East, A-West, B, E, or F without reclearing. If your flight leaves from B or A-West, budget a 10–15 minute walk back from the lounge to your gate.

The space itself is on the smaller side compared to the clubs in Newark’s Terminal C or Chicago’s Terminal 1. Seating is mainly armchairs and small tables, fine for one or two hours before a C- or D-gate departure. Power outlets run along some walls and under select seats; they’re not at every chair, so grab one when you see it, especially during the evening United bank around 5–7 p.m.

Food follows the standard United Club template: soups, snack mixes, chips, cookies, and a few cold items like hummus, veggies, and maybe a salad bowl at peak times. Don’t expect hot entrees or anything like the full plates in some A-West or A-East restaurants; this is more “hold-you-over” than “eat dinner here.” If you want a real meal, hit the food court near B or C before you scan into the lounge.

The bar is the main value: house beer, wine, and basic spirits come free, with premium labels available for an extra charge that usually sits in the $5–$12 range per drink. If you care more about a quiet stool and a drink than buffet variety, this club makes sense for an hour before boarding. Coffee, tea, and soft drinks are self-serve all day, useful for early-morning C-gate departures starting around 6 a.m.

One practical tip: build your timing around security. Clear TSA at C or D, walk the few minutes to the C/D link, then leave the lounge 20 minutes before boarding time for C gates or 25–30 minutes if you pulled an A-East or B gate on United codeshare metal.
