Gate-side magazines and chargers in T1
Relay in Perth T1 sits airside in the international zone, a few minutes’ walk from most long-haul gates. It runs roughly from first departures through the last late-night flights, so you can usually duck in for a quick grab before boarding. Think newsstand plus travel basics rather than a full electronics shop.
You’ll find Australian and international newspapers, glossy magazines, and a rack of paperbacks that skew toward crime and airport thrillers, most in the AUD 15–30 range. There’s also a decent wall of snacks and bottled drinks, handy if the line at the nearest café spills into the corridor. Prices run higher than city supermarkets but in line with other PER outlets.
Tech-wise, Relay tends to stock phone cables, universal travel adapters, and basic over-ear or in-ear headphones, usually under AUD 40. There are also power banks, which sell out on busy evening waves when Europe and Asia flights bank in T1. If you forgot a SIM ejector, most staff will improvise with a paperclip at the counter.
Toiletries and last-minute extras sit by the entrance: travel-size toothpaste, deodorant, sanitary products, and a small shelf of painkillers and motion sickness tablets. There’s also a compact souvenirs corner with WA-branded magnets and keyrings under AUD 10, plus a few higher-priced plush toys and gift books.
Tip: If your gate is in the high 50s at T1, stop at Relay on the way; options thin out as you head toward the far end of the pier.
