RM2 instant noodles and RM1 snacks beat most airport prices
7-Eleven sits airside in T1 at Penang International Airport, a short walk from the main departure gates. It runs roughly 06:00–22:00, so early morning and late evening flights are covered better than the cafe hours. Think quick grab-and-go before a domestic hop to KUL or an AirAsia run into Thailand.
Cold drinks in the fridges usually sit around RM3–RM6, cheaper than the nearby coffee chains. You’ll see standard 7-Eleven stock: bottled water, canned coffee, soft drinks, plus a few energy drinks that regular Asian flyers will recognize. If you land from a long-haul into PEN and connect in T1, this is the fastest way to reset with something cold.
Food is basic but useful. Cup noodles hover around RM2–RM4, packaged bread and buns around RM3–RM5, and there are a few instant meals in the RM7–RM10 range. It’s enough to replace a light meal without paying RM25+ at a sit-down spot. For sweets, local-style biscuits and candy usually sit under RM6 per pack.
There’s no seating, and the narrow aisle gets cramped when two or three families hit it at once. Card payment is accepted, but have a backup: the terminal’s card systems in PEN do go down occasionally. Tip: grab a 1.5L water and snacks here before walking to the far gates, since there’s less choice once you’re parked at the end of T1.
