Gate-side in T1, the AirAsia Santan Lounge runs 24/7

This is AirAsia’s own lounge in Penang T1, open 24 hours and located airside for departing passengers. Access is tied to AirAsia Premium Flex tickets and AirAsia BIG Loyalty status, so you can’t just walk up and pay at the door like a generic contract lounge.

The lounge sits inside Terminal 1 after security, so you clear immigration and scanners first, then head here before your AirAsia flight. Since PEN isn’t huge, you’re usually 5–10 minutes from most domestic and regional gates, which works for tight turns on AirAsia’s short hops.

Hours are simple: it never closes, which helps on late-night AirAsia departures after 22:00 or early departures before 07:00. If your Premium Flex ticket includes lounge access, this is the place you’re routed to rather than a third‑party option in the terminal.

Food leans to Santan’s usual in-flight style, so expect basic hot items rather than a big buffet spread. Think simple rice dishes and snacks more than made‑to‑order mains; if you want a heavy meal, the public food court in T1 might still be the better call before you tap your boarding pass at the lounge desk.

Drinks typically mean soft drinks, water, tea, and coffee from a machine; don’t expect a long bar or premium spirits. If you need something stronger, plan to buy it from one of the terminal bars or cafés in T1 before or after your lounge stop.

Seating usually runs to armchairs and café‑style tables, enough for a short stay before a regional AirAsia run. Power outlets can be limited in older AirAsia lounges, so arrive with your phone at more than 50% or bring a power bank if you plan to stream for an hour.

Access rules are straightforward: AirAsia Premium Flex and BIG Loyalty members with lounge privileges get in; everyone else in T1 stays outside. Check your booking in the AirAsia app before you reach PEN so you know if the Santan Lounge is actually included in your fare.

Tip: PEN’s T1 security can bunch up around the morning bank of AirAsia flights (roughly 06:00–09:00), so clear formalities first, then use the 24‑hour Santan Lounge as your waiting room within a 5–10 minute walk of most gates.
