Dadong

T3

Near the T3 central shopping area, Dadong serves full-on roast duck

Dadong sits airside in Terminal T3, so you eat after security and stay close to most international gates. It’s a full restaurant, not a quick kiosk, so budget at least 60–90 minutes if you want the signature duck done properly. Signage in T3 points clearly to it alongside other Chinese brands, but this is the one people recognize from central Beijing for higher-end Peking duck.

The headline dish is Dadong’s roast duck, ordered by the half or whole, with prices higher than the city branches but still reasonable against other sit‑down spots in T3. Staff carve the duck table-side, then send out pancake wraps, scallions, cucumber, and sweet bean sauce. If you’re solo and a whole duck feels like too much before a 10–12 hour flight, a half portion plus a vegetable dish usually lands under a typical mid-range airport meal budget.

Menu covers standard Beijing dishes beyond duck: think kung pao chicken, sautéed green beans, simple fried rice, and a couple of noodle options, with most mains priced well above fast food but below hotel‑restaurant levels inside the city. There’s Tsingtao and other local beers by the bottle, plus hot tea and soft drinks. English menus and picture-heavy pages help if you don’t read Chinese, and most servers at T3 handle basic English order-taking without drama.

Service time on full duck orders can stretch to 30 minutes during peaks around late evening bank departures, especially when multiple long-haul flights leave from T3 in a 22:00–01:00 window. For a 1–2 hour layover, stick to stir‑fried dishes, noodles, or fried rice that usually hit the table within 10–15 minutes. Seating is standard tables rather than bar perches, so this works better for a proper sit-down meal than a 20‑minute sprint.

Tip: if your gate is deep in the 3E or 3F pier, ask staff at the end of the meal roughly how long it takes to walk there; some of those gates sit a solid 10–15 minutes from the restaurant at a normal pace.
