Free racks, 1-minute walk from T: Bicycle & Pedestrian Parking
Bicycle & Pedestrian Parking at PDX costs $0 per day and sits right by Terminal T, so you’re on the sidewalk and at the doors in about a 1-minute walk from most racks. It’s on-site, not off at a remote lot, which is why local riders treat it as part of their regular transit routine.
PDX lists racks at the north and south ends of the lower terminal roadway, plus more racks at the north end of the upper level and by the TriMet MAX platform. A Reddit rider says they “lock up at the racks by the MAX station and hop on the train,” using a heavy u-lock and reporting no theft issues to date.
That MAX-adjacent bike parking is handy if you’re rolling in from town on the Red Line, or meeting someone off the train and walking the last 1–2 minutes to the terminal doors. Another cyclist reports the racks on the upper level north end are usually emptier than the ones by the MAX, so they use those for longer trips of several days.
Watch out for approach confusion: riders complain that wayfinding along NE Airport Way and NE 82nd is weak, with decent bike signage only when you’re very close to the terminal. Regulars often avoid this by biking to an in-town MAX stop, locking up there, and then taking the train the last 20–35 minutes to PDX.
These racks are exposed to wind-blown rain, and locals on Reddit suggest a weatherproof bike cover in winter if you’re parking for multiple days. Tip: arrive in daylight when possible; several regulars say they plan flights to skip very early or late rides to the airport when visibility and traffic patterns feel sketchier.
