Gate E2 is where United hides its small Portland club

This United Club sits in Terminal T at gate E2, post-security on Concourse E. It’s the default lounge for United departures and, thanks to construction blocking easy access to C, it’s also where British Airways sends Portland–London Club World passengers instead of the Alaska Lounge by the C gates.

The room is compact and older, matching online reports that call it “small and dated.” Seating fills fast around late-afternoon United banks and the evening BA departure to LHR, so don’t expect spare capacity at 5–7 p.m. If you want a quieter corner, head to the far wall away from the entrance and bar area.

Hours typically track United’s schedule out of PDX, opening in the early morning bank around 4:30–5:00 a.m. and running into the evening to cover the last departures. Always check the same-day hours in the United app; early Saturday and late Sunday shifts see the most changes when the E concourse schedule thins out.

Food is classic United Club light buffet: think snack towers, carbs and a few cold items rather than anything hot or cooked to order. Expect basics like hummus, cheese cubes and packaged snacks; don’t plan on a real meal before a long-haul like BA’s PDX–LHR. The smarter move for that flight is a proper dinner in the main terminal, then just use the lounge for a drink and a seat.

Drinks follow standard United pricing: house beer and wine are free, while premium spirits and better wines run in the $7–$12 range. Coffee comes from the usual self-serve machines, fine for a quick cappuccino before a 6:00 a.m. departure to Denver or Chicago. Water and soft drinks sit in coolers along the wall near the food layout.

Regulars on United and BA talk about this club mainly as a calm spot compared to the D-gate seating crush before the London departure. One FlyerTalk poster flying BA Club World in the last month called it “nothing special, but quiet compared to gate area,” and that’s the right mindset: it’s a holding pen with power outlets, Wi‑Fi and a drink, not a destination lounge.

Practical tip: if you’re on British Airways out of a D gate, enter through security near Concourse E, hit the United Club at E2 for 30–40 minutes, then walk back toward D so you’re at the door no later than boarding minus 10.
