American Express The Club PDX

Amex Platinum at PDX actually means the Escape Lounge by D8

Concourse D has no separate “American Express The Club PDX” sign; Amex Platinum and Delta Reserve cardholders instead use the Escape Lounge between gates D8 and D10 as their partner space. Staff are used to it: you say you’re Amex, scan your boarding pass, show the card, and you’re in. Treat any mention of “The Club PDX” for Amex as legacy naming pointing to this same Escape-branded room.

This lounge sits airside in Terminal T on Concourse D, so you need to clear security first; give yourself at least 15–20 minutes to walk from the main checkpoint to the D8–D10 cluster. It mainly serves domestic departures, but it’s still fine for shorter layovers since you’re only a few minutes from most D gates. If you’re coming from C or E, budget an extra 5–10 minutes for the walk through the connector.

Access works two ways: Amex Platinum and Delta SkyMiles Reserve cardmembers get in free, with Delta Reserve requiring a Delta-marketed flight that same day, while everyone else pays a walk-up fee that usually sits in the mid-$40s–$50s depending on current Escape pricing. They scan your boarding pass, check your ID, and you’re done in under a minute if there’s no queue.

Food runs off a small buffet plus a few hot dishes during peak hours, better than most gate-side options but not a full restaurant; think snacks and light plates that can stand in for a simple meal before a 2–3 hour flight. Drinks include beer, wine, and basic spirits at the bar, with upgrades sometimes available for a surcharge of a few dollars per pour. Coffee and soft drinks are self-serve and free once you’re inside.

Regulars with Amex Platinum at PDX skip any hunt for a Centurion sign and walk straight to the Escape entrance by gate D9, flashing the card almost out of habit. Many slide in about 60 minutes before boarding to grab Wi‑Fi, a drink, and some food, then leave when their app shows “boarding” rather than trying to stretch a longer stay.

One practical tip: if your flight departs from gates C1–C7 or the E gates, enter the lounge only after you’re already through security and have checked your exact gate; you don’t want to burn 10–15 minutes backtracking from D after a last-minute gate change.
