Bus

Bus 44 runs from Palm Beach International to downtown in about 25 minutes

Palm Tran Route 44 is the local public bus that links Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) with West Palm Beach and nearby stops along Okeechobee Boulevard. The stop sits on the outer curb of the Main terminal ground transportation area, outside baggage claim on Level 1. Service is part of the Palm Tran network that covers Palm Beach County, so you can connect to other routes once you get into town.

Cash fare on Route 44 is usually around a couple of dollars per ride, with exact change required when you board. Drivers do not make change, so bring small bills and coins before you leave the Main terminal. Palm Tran also sells passes on mobile apps and at select outlets in West Palm Beach, which can cut the per-trip cost if you plan more than two or three rides in a day.

Route 44 typically runs seven days a week, with more frequent service during weekday daytime hours and reduced headways at night and on Sundays. The timetable posted at the Main terminal stop lists first and last bus times, so check that sign if your flight lands after 9 p.m. Midday, you usually see a bus roughly every 30 minutes, which is fine if you just missed one and don’t mind a short wait outside.

The bus follows Okeechobee Boulevard, stopping at key intersections like Military Trail and stops closer to downtown West Palm Beach. Travel time from PBI to downtown averages around 20–30 minutes, depending on traffic on Okeechobee and the number of boardings at intermediate stops. If you need Tri-Rail or Brightline after the bus, plan at least 15 extra minutes to transfer once Route 44 drops you near the train stations.

The stop at the Main terminal ground transportation area is shared with other shuttles and services, so look specifically for the Palm Tran sign marked with the number 44. Buses kneel and have ramps, which helps with luggage and mobility devices. For the easiest ride, board toward the front, keep roller bags in the low-floor section, and screenshot the Route 44 schedule before you take off in case cell service is spotty when you land.
