Rooney's Pub

★ 3 $$$$

Locals use Rooney’s Pub as the airport sports bar

In PBI’s Main terminal, Rooney’s Pub doubles as a neighborhood-style sports bar where people camp on stools to watch games before boarding. Multiple TVs run ESPN or whatever big matchup is on, and regulars call out specific seats at the bar as the “good sightline” spots. Expect a middle-of-the-road $$/3-star setup: fine for a beer and a game, less compelling as a full dinner plan.

Menus skew classic bar grub, with fish and chips and wings mentioned again and again in Google and Yelp reviews as the default orders. Pub mains hit around $14–18, with apps cheaper and mostly fried. Food gets tagged as “average” or “just OK,” more about soaking up alcohol than being the highlight of your time at Palm Beach International. Treat it like a normal neighborhood pub attached to your gate, not a destination restaurant.

Beer is the main draw here, with travelers repeatedly citing pints in the $7–9 range and calling out Guinness by name. Tap lists lean familiar rather than craft-nerd; think mainstream lagers and a couple of recognizable imports. Regulars mention skipping cocktails and sticking to draft or bottle, then pairing it with wings or another shareable plate so the bill doesn’t balloon past $30–35 per person.

Service reviews land all over the place, but several people flag slow refills and delayed checks during the evening departure push from around 5–8 p.m. That’s when gates in the Main terminal fill and the bar staff struggles to keep up, so budget an extra 15–20 minutes if you sit down during that window. On quieter mid-morning or mid-afternoon banks, one or two servers can usually cover both bar and tables without drama.

Tip: If catching a game is the priority, head straight for a bar seat with a clear TV view, order beer plus wings or fish and chips in the first five minutes, and ask for the check as soon as your main hits the table.
