Main Terminal, Airside, after Security Checks, turn right and proceed to the end of the corridor, before the stairs to Gates 5–9, Asturias Airport (Ranón, ES)

Wi‑Fi, a seat, and not much else in T1

Just after security in T1, Sala VIP Picos de Europa sits on the right at the end of the corridor before the stairs down to gates 5–9, so factor in a 3–5 minute walk back to boarding. It runs daily from 05:00 to 23:00, covering the first departures and last arrivals at this small field.

Access works via the terminal’s standard pay‑in, Priority Pass, and Mastercard Airport Experiences programs, with walk‑up typically priced in line with other AENA lounges in Spain. Mastercard Airport Experiences limits access to 4 hours before scheduled departure, and staff can stop accepting new guests when the room is close to full.

This is an AENA contract lounge, so set expectations at “basic.” Food usually means cold snacks and packaged items rather than hot dishes; FlyerTalk regulars describe similar Spanish AENA rooms as fine for a 30–60 minute wait but thin on anything resembling a meal. If you want a real lunch or dinner, eat in town before heading to OVD.

Drinks run to self‑serve soft drinks, coffee from a machine, and standard beer and wine; spirits, if present, tend to be mainstream labels, not top‑shelf. Wi‑Fi and power outlets are the main draw, especially since the rest of Asturias Airport has limited seating once the Schengen morning or evening wave banks around gates 5–9.

Families should note that on Mastercard Airport Experiences access, children 5 and under enter free, but anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult, so you can’t send a 16‑year‑old in on their own. The room itself is small, so a couple of full A320 departures can make it feel tight quickly.

Regular Priority Pass users in Spain tend to duck into AENA lounges like this for Wi‑Fi, charging, and a drink, then eat properly at home or in town. They also time visits between departure peaks rather than right before the 2–3 busiest flights on the board, which helps avoid capacity caps at the door.

Tip: If your gate shows in the 5–9 range, leave Sala VIP Picos de Europa about 15 minutes before boarding time to walk back up the corridor, head down the stairs, and still be near the front of the queue.
