Taxi minimums on the OSL–hotel hop add up fast

Hotel shuttle buses run between Oslo Airport Gardermoen’s Terminal T and nearby airport hotels, cutting the short 3–5 km hop without paying full taxi fares or walking with bags in winter. Several properties around OSL market their own shuttles or easy access, and that’s usually why people pick an airport hotel instead of staying in Oslo city center before a 06:00 flight. Check your hotel’s site: some include the shuttle cost in the room rate, others charge per ride.

Most hotel shuttles at OSL line up every 20–30 minutes during peak times like 05:00–09:00 and 18:00–21:00, but late-night or midday gaps can stretch to 60 minutes. Buses typically depart from the designated hotel bus stops just outside the arrivals level of Terminal T, so you do not need to re-clear security to board. Figure 10–15 minutes total from terminal door to most nearby hotels, including walking to the stand and a couple of intermediate stops.

Fares for OSL hotel shuttles often sit in the NOK 80–100 range per person each way, which undercuts the roughly NOK 300–400 you might pay for a short taxi ride from the airport rank. Some hotels run private vans that are free but only for registered guests and only between certain hours, for example 05:00–10:00 and 16:00–22:00. Always confirm whether you can pay by card on board; most buses take Visa and Mastercard, but a few still expect contactless or a pre-paid voucher from reception.

Timetables live on each hotel’s site, and they change with season, especially around July and the Christmas period, when some routes drop to one bus per hour. If your flight lands at 23:30 and the last shuttle leaves at 00:00, you do not want to be stuck waiting for a bus that is not running. Screenshot the schedule before you board your flight to OSL and cross-check the date and day of week so you are not surprised by a Sunday-only timetable.

One practical tip: if your departure from Oslo is earlier than 07:00, book a hotel that publishes a first shuttle at or before 04:30, not 05:30. Build a 30–40 minute buffer from hotel lobby to security at Terminal T so you are not negotiating with a taxi dispatcher at 05:00 because you missed the first bus.
