Gate-side grab at WH Smith in T1
Just past security in Terminal 1, WH Smith sits on the main departures concourse and functions as Cork’s default last-minute stop. You’ll see it shortly after security before you reach the main gate areas, so you don’t need to double back from the boarding queues.
It carries the usual WH Smith mix: bottled water and soft drinks, multipack crisps, chocolate bars, sandwiches, and wraps, all at standard airport markups. Expect to pay a couple of euros more than city prices for snacks and around €4–€6 for basic meal-deal style combos when they’re running those offers.
Magazine racks and paperback shelves run along one side, with UK and Irish papers, kids’ activity books, and light fiction. If you forgot a plug adapter, basic chargers, or a USB cable, check the small electronics section near the counter; prices sit in the €10–€25 band for most accessories.
WH Smith keeps hours tied to the first and last departures, often opening before 05:00 and staying open until the final evening flight boards. That early start makes it a backup plan if the smaller cafés in T1 aren’t fully up and running yet and you just need water and something packaged.
