At $15 per day, Economy Lot G at ORD is the on-airport pick when you want to leave a car for 3–7 days without paying terminal-garage prices. It’s a large, uncovered surface lot tied into the Economy G/H shuttle route that serves Terminals 1, 2, 3, and 5. You pay the standard airport rate at the exit booths or machines, no advance reservation needed.

The shuttle ride runs about 10 minutes to Terminals 1–3 and slightly longer if you stay on to Terminal 5. Officially, the airport pitches frequent service, but multiple reviews mention 20–25 minute gaps after 11 p.m. and after midnight. One January traveler reported a 25-minute wait in the cold at 11 p.m., so pad at least an extra half hour into your outbound and return timing.

Rows are clearly labeled with letters and numbers, and one Google reviewer called parking itself “easy,” even on a Monday. The flip side: the lot is big enough that people do lose their car after a 6–10 day trip. This is a fully open lot with no shade structures, so cars bake in July and sit under snow and ice in January; plan for windshield scraping if you’re gone 3–5 days in winter. Some reviews also flag potholes and rough patches that feel worse after freeze–thaw cycles, so drive slowly at night or after storms and avoid speeding down the main aisles.

Shuttles serve both Economy G and H on the same loop, which can mean crowded buses at Sunday evening peaks or Monday mornings around 6–8 a.m. Frequent users say that if the line at Terminal 1 or 3 is huge, letting the first bus go and taking the second often gets you a seat instead of 10 minutes of stand-up luggage surfing. Tip: on return, use the first open kiosk at the exit plaza to pay so you’re not idling behind confused drivers at a single lane.
