Priority Pass in T5 buys you into Swissport, not luxury.
In Terminal 5, the Swissport Lounge sits airside after security and mainly serves Priority Pass and contract customers flying out of ORD’s international terminal. It opens roughly in line with T5 departure banks, so early evening between 15:00 and 20:00 is when it gets rough. Think of it as a step up from the gate, not a Polaris rival.
The space feels dated and small for a terminal that can push out multiple widebodies at once from gates M1–M21. Reviews on Google and Yelp repeatedly call it “crowded” and “tired-looking,” and several mention people standing or even sitting on the floor during peak departures to Europe and the Middle East. Seating is mostly basic lounge chairs with small side tables, plus a few two‑top café tables near the buffet.
Food is minimal: expect packaged chips, cookies, and cold finger foods instead of a full meal. Regulars on Reddit say you might see one or two hot items in chafing dishes, but they go fast and are rarely refilled during the 17:00–19:00 rush. If you want an actual dinner before a 21:00 departure, plan to hit a restaurant in T5 instead of relying on the Swissport spread.
Drinks help justify a short visit. Beer, wine, and basic spirits are typically complimentary, with a small self‑serve bar next to the snacks. Don’t expect rare whiskey or fancy cocktails; think standard house wine and mainstream labels. One Reddit comment calls it “fine for a quick gin and tonic and some chips before boarding,” which lines up with most Priority Pass reports.
Power outlets are the other real value. Priority Pass regulars recommend grabbing a seat near the walls where you’ll find standard US sockets to top up a laptop or phone before a 9‑hour flight to Europe or the Middle East. Wi‑Fi runs off the lounge’s own network; speeds in reviews range from 5 to 20 Mbps, good enough for email and basic streaming but not heavy uploads.
Tip: If your T5 layover is under 60 minutes, skip Swissport and stay near your gate; use it only when you have at least an hour to spare and want a drink and a power plug away from the main seating areas.
