Even Delta regulars only bother with this Sky Club if they’re already in T5
The Delta Sky Club in Chicago O’Hare sits in Terminal 5, airside, and mostly serves SkyTeam flyers connecting onto international partners like AF, KL, and KE. It’s one of Delta’s older clubs, and reviews consistently call it “small but calm compared to the zoo in the main concourse,” so think basic lounge with a door between you and gate noise. If your flight already leaves from a T5 gate, it’s a reasonable place to sit and recharge.
Hours track Delta’s schedule in Terminal 5, generally opening early morning before the first departure push and running into the evening bank; check the Delta app for that day’s exact open and close. A day pass runs $79 per person, the standard Sky Club walk-up price. That’s a steep buy-in at O’Hare when Terminal 5 has plenty of regular seating and food courts, so the math only works if you’ll actually sit here for 2–3 hours and care more about quiet than food.
Food is the main weak spot. Frequent flyers compare the spread to a basic domestic club from 2015: think a couple of hot items, soup, salad bar, and snacks, but nothing like the upgraded buffets at Delta’s newer hubs in SEA, BOS, or LGA. Drinks follow the usual Sky Club pattern with complimentary well liquor, house wine, and standard beers, plus paid upgrades. If you’re hungry, plan to grab a real meal in Terminal 5 first and treat the lounge as coffee-and-snacks only.
Space is tight by Delta standards, and that shows during the evening departure bank, roughly 5–8 p.m., when several regional and partner flights leave around the same time. Reviews mention crowding and trouble finding seats near power outlets during that window. Earlier in the day and mid-afternoon, people report it as “small but calm,” with enough seating to spread out a bit away from the central bar area.
Regulars on r/delta say they only use this Sky Club if their boarding pass already shows a Terminal 5 gate and they’ve cleared security there. Moving between Terminals 1, 2, 3, and 5 at ORD can eat 30–45 minutes, and you’ll re-clear security, which wipes out most of the benefit of lounge time. In practical terms, don’t burn 45 minutes and $79 just to sample this club.
Tip: If your layover is under 90 minutes in T5, skip the day pass, grab food in the terminal, then pop into the club only if you already have access through status or a card and the Delta app shows it as “not busy.”
