Sambazon Açaí Bowls

Smoothie bowls are finally coming to OMA’s North Terminal

Sambazon Açaí Bowls is slated to open in Eppley Airfield’s North Terminal as part of the expansion project outlined in the BuildOMA 2024 updates. It fills a gap in the current lineup, which leans hard into burgers, bar food, and heavier Midwestern chains. Expect fruit-heavy bowls and blends built around Sambazon’s açaí base, with toppings like granola, banana, and nut butters typically running in the $8–$15 range at their other locations.

The concept sits post-security in the North side concessions mix, so you clear TSA once and then walk over from the new central concourse. Eppley’s food options historically cluster on the South side, so this stand helps balance things out for North gates once construction finishes. If you usually default to fast food near your gate, this gives you a shot at something lighter without backtracking across the terminal.

Menu details for the OMA branch aren’t published yet, but other Sambazon spots lean on build-your-own açaí bowls, pre-set combinations with names like “Brazilian” or “Peanut Butter Power,” and add-ons such as chia seeds, cacao nibs, and extra protein for a small upcharge. Figure on a quick-serve setup: order at the counter, watch them blend and assemble the bowl, and be out in under 10 minutes unless there’s a rush from a bank of departures.

The rest of Eppley’s planned upgrades mix this stand with more traditional grills and bars, so Sambazon ends up as the primary health‑leaning option in the terminal. If you want something cold before an evening departure, grab a regular-size bowl or smoothie and carry it to your gate instead of sitting down at a bar. Tip: construction at OMA shifts traffic patterns, so plan an extra 10–15 minutes to find the new North concessions area once it opens.
