OMA finally gets Block 16 instead of another chain
Block 16 lands at Eppley Airfield as part of the 2027 concessions upgrade, bringing Omaha’s downtown cult sandwich shop into the terminal for the first time. This is local, not a national logo slapped on a wall. You’re getting the same style of overstuffed, chef-y sandwiches that built the original following in the city, just airside.
The new Block 16 sits inside the OMA terminal complex serving passengers in the North and South concourses, so you stay post-security once you’re checked in. Expect standard airport hours roughly matching morning departures through the last main bank of evening flights; think early breakfast through around 9:00–10:00 p.m., depending on the day and traffic. If you land late on a weekday, check terminal boards before banking on it.
Pricing runs in line with airport fast casual: plan on roughly $13–$18 for a sandwich with a side and around $4–$6 for fountain drinks or coffee. It’s more than grabbing a $6 pastry at a newsstand, but you’re paying for a real hot meal built to order. If you normally burn $20 on a national burger chain in another airport, the price point here sits in the same range with better ingredients and more interesting builds.
Menu specifics at OMA track the spirit of the downtown original: stacked sandwiches, loaded fries, and rotating specials. Expect at least one signature burger-style build, a fried chicken option, and a vegetarian-friendly sandwich on the permanent board. When in doubt, go for whatever is marked as a “special” that week; that’s usually where Block 16 shines in town and should translate here too.
Tip: if you have under 25 minutes before boarding out of North or South, grab your sandwich to go and eat at the gate; lines move reasonably fast, but fresh, made-to-order food still takes a few minutes in an airport setting.
