Across from Gate 17, this “lounge” is basically soda and chips

Across from Gate 17 in Terminal 1, Hawaiian Airlines Premier Club North is the only Priority Pass lounge at OGG, but regulars say it’s barely better than the seating outside. It’s a compact room with a few chairs, a snack counter, and an interior window view over a parking area instead of the runway.

The lounge runs daily from 6:00am to 8:30pm, so it covers most Hawaiian Airlines departures out of Kahului. Access comes through Hawaiian Premier Club membership or Priority Pass; there’s no on-the-spot day pass purchase, so you either qualify or you don’t.

At check-in, staff often warn new arrivals there’s no hot food, no alcohol, and no restroom inside. If that’s a dealbreaker, this is the moment to pivot back to the terminal food courts and bars in Terminal 1 instead of burning time inside.

Food and drink here mean soft drinks and packaged snacks only. Think cans from a self-serve fridge, small bags of chips, maybe some taro chips, and basic nibbles. No fresh items, no espresso machine, no draft anything, and no chance at a real meal before a mainland flight.

The space itself is small, and there’s a sign at the door warning access may be denied when the lounge hits capacity. Reviewers mention people being turned away during busy banks of Hawaiian departures, which is especially frustrating when those inside often leave quickly after seeing how limited the offering is.

There are no restrooms inside the Premier Club North, so every bathroom run means scanning back out to the main concourse and re-entering the lounge. For families with kids or anyone hydrating hard before a long flight, this gets old fast compared with just staying in the terminal seating near Gate 17.

Frequent flyers on FlyerTalk and Reddit say they often just skip the lounge entirely at OGG and sit in the open-air parts of Terminal 1, grabbing food from regular concessions. Some only pop in for a quick soda and Wi‑Fi, then head straight back out to eat and wait at the gate.

Bottom line tip: If you already have Priority Pass or Premier Club, you can duck in near Gate 17 for a drink and a quiet-ish seat, but do your real eating and bathroom stops in the terminal before you badge in.
