Draft beer and burgers in Terminal 2
Pyramid Ale Taproom sits past security in Terminal 2 at Oakland (OAK), on the Southwest side of the concourse. It runs standard airport hours, usually opening by the first bank of morning flights and staying open through the last departures after 9:00 pm, but alcohol service times follow California rules, so expect beer from 6:00 am onward.
This is a full bar with Pyramid-branded beers on tap, basic cocktails, and a short wine list, all priced at typical airport levels: think $9–$13 for a pint and $12–$15 for mixed drinks. Food leans bar-style American: burgers in the $16–$20 range, chicken tenders, fries, and a few salads and sandwiches to keep it under $20 if you’re watching spend.
Seating is mostly high-tops and bar stools, with a direct view of Terminal 2 gates used by Southwest, so you can keep an eye on boarding groups lining up at gates like 27 and 28. Solo flyers usually grab the bar for faster service, while groups push two-top tables together; figure 30–40 minutes for a sit-down meal when it’s moderately busy.
Service pace tracks the flight banks: around the 6:00–8:00 am and 4:00–7:00 pm peaks in Terminal 2, ticket times can stretch to 25 minutes. Late-morning and mid-afternoon are lighter, and that’s when you’re more likely to get food out in under 15 minutes and a fresh pour within 5.
If you’re tight on time before a Southwest hop, use the big departures board across from the bar to watch for delays and boarding calls while you eat. One practical move: order your second drink at the same time as your food after 5:00 pm; it cuts down on server lag when the concourse fills up and makes a 45-minute sit-down here much less stressful before lining up in your boarding group.
