Gate-side pints in Terminal 2
Right in Terminal 2 after security, OAK Taproom is the sit-down option between the Southwest gates and the food court cluster, so you don’t have to backtrack far from most T2 departures. It runs through the main flight banks, typically opening for morning departures and staying open into the evening, so you can usually grab a beer and a burger before those 7 p.m.–9 p.m. flights to SoCal.
The menu leans pub-style: think burgers, sandwiches, wings, and fries, all priced in typical airport range, roughly low teens into the $20s for mains. Portion sizes tend to work as a full meal before a 2–3 hour hop, so you’re not landing at LAX or SAN already hungry again. If you just want something small, sides and bar snacks often come in under $10, which helps if you’re on a per-diem leash.
Beer is the main draw here, with a focus on local Bay Area and California taps that rotate, so you can usually find at least one IPA, one lager, and a seasonal or two on draft. Expect airport pricing, roughly $9–$14 per pint depending on style and strength. If you care about what’s pouring, ask for the current tap list before you sit, since handles do change with distribution and kegs.
Service speed varies with the Southwest push periods in Terminal 2, especially around the 6 a.m.–8 a.m. bank and the late-afternoon rush, when half the gate area seems to show up at once. Build in at least 45 minutes if you want a full hot meal and still board on time, and closer to 25 minutes if you’re just grabbing a beer and fries at the bar.
Tip: If your flight boards from a higher-numbered Southwest gate in Terminal 2, ask for your check as soon as your food arrives; some gates call boarding a full 35 minutes before departure at OAK.
