Two-minute walk beats everything at OAK if time is money
Premier Parking sits directly in front of Terminals 1 and 2, with a 1–2 minute walk from most spaces to the doors. Daily max runs about $40 per 24 hours, with reviewers reporting real bills around $38–40 after taxes and fees. This lot is short-stay territory: think day trips, quick overnights, or early Monday flights where shaving 10–15 minutes off parking actually matters.
From Premier, you cross one roadway and you’re basically at Terminal 2 check-in, which is why Southwest regulars use it for same-day returns. One flyer says they can get from car door to TSA in under 3 minutes, and another reports car-to-gate in under 20 minutes even on Monday mornings. The tradeoff is price: anything beyond 1–2 days and that $40 line item starts to hurt compared with Daily or Economy.
EV drivers get free charging, but spaces are limited and reviews say the chargers are often full by early morning on weekdays. Premier’s system uses automatic license-plate reads and tickets at the gate; when it misreads a plate, you may sit an extra 5–10 minutes waiting for a human override during busy exit times. For quick trips, that delay can wipe out part of the time you saved by parking close.
Regulars often pre-book Premier online when that option shows up, and they cap it at 1–2 days before switching to cheaper lots. A Bay Area flyer recommends entering via 98th Ave, staying in the left lanes, and aiming directly for the Premier entrance so you don’t get funneled into Hourly/Daily traffic. Simple rule: if your billable hours or status run matter more than $10–20 per day, park here and be at the terminal in 2 minutes.
