Short stay

$36 daily cap without Premier prices, 5-minute walk to OAK

Hourly Parking at Oakland runs $36 per 24 hours and sits in the second-closest lot to Terminals 1 and 2, so it fills a narrow niche: sub-24-hour trips, short meetings, or tight pickups where you want to be right by the terminal doors but don’t want Premier rates.

The lot is signed as “Hourly” on airport roadways and is a posted 5-minute walk to both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, but Yelp regulars say the far end to T1 often feels like 6–8 minutes once you factor in crosswalks and traffic lights. It’s all uncovered surface parking, so you’re exposed to Bay weather while walking.

Pricing is aimed at true short stays: you hit a $36 per-day maximum, and several reviewers mention they reached that cap in a single delayed pickup that ran beyond 4–5 hours. For anything close to a full day, you’re paying almost what you’d pay in Premier and more than OAK Daily or Economy, which limits the value beyond a few hours.

Regulars on Reddit say they only use Hourly if they know they’ll be in and out in under 2 hours, and a Yelp user calls it “fine for a 2–3 hour pickup” but too expensive once delays stack up. Locals also like it for picking up elderly relatives because the walk is short enough to park, meet them inside, and help with bags without juggling curbside timing.

Watch out for congestion at the Hourly entrance where ride-shares and hotel shuttles share the same lanes; at busy evening banks it can take an extra 5–10 minutes just to reach a space. To keep costs down, many locals stage first in the free Park & Call lot, then move into Hourly only after a “bags in hand” text from the arriving passenger.
