T1 to T2 Shuttle Bus

Shuttle

Shuttle Approx. 10 min

10 minutes is all it takes between NRT T1 and T2

The T1 to T2 Shuttle Bus at Narita International Airport runs between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 in about 10 minutes, so it beats walking or re-parking. It is an airside/landside connector dedicated to moving passengers and airport staff between T1 and T2 without needing a taxi or train for this short hop.

Buses typically depart every 5–7 minutes during the day, and you rarely wait more than one cycle. Service patterns can thin a bit in late-night or very early morning hours, but the core daytime schedule sticks to that 5–7 minute window, which matters if you are trying to make a tight international-to-international transfer at Narita.

The shuttle runs on a fixed loop between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 stops clearly signed in English and Japanese. Look for airport shuttle icons and “T1–T2” wording near the curbside at each terminal. The bus pulls up at dedicated bays, so you are not mixing with highway coaches headed into Tokyo or with hotel buses that sit further along the same curb.

The T1 to T2 Shuttle Bus is operated by the airport and is free of charge, so you do not tap an IC card or buy a ticket from a machine. You simply line up at the marked stand, board through the main door when passengers get off, and step down at the next terminal. For a quick terminal change inside Narita’s grounds, it is the zero-yen option that still moves you in roughly 10 minutes.

Boarding is straightforward: doors open level with the curb, but during busy bank times around major departures, the bus can fill and you may be standing for the 10-minute ride. Luggage space is limited to the interior racks and whatever you can keep at your feet, so larger checked bags are fine, but baggage carts do not go on board.

Build the buffer: if your connection jumps from T1 to T2, add at least 20–25 minutes for walking to the stop, waiting up to one full 5–7 minute interval, and the ride itself, instead of timing it down to the raw 10-minute drive.

Step by step

  1. 01 Find the shuttle bus stop at T1.
  2. 02 Wait for the bus to T2 (frequency is every 5-7 minutes).
  3. 03 Board the bus and enjoy the ride to T2.
Watch out for
  • Missing the bus due to not checking the schedule.
  • Not allowing enough time for the transfer if you have a tight connection.
