Shuttle buses link T1, T2, and T3 in under 15 minutes

The Inter-terminal Shuttle Bus runs between Narita’s T1, T2, and T3 and is free for all passengers. Buses usually take about 10–15 minutes between terminals, depending on traffic on the airport roads. Stops sit right outside each terminal building, so you do not have to exit airport property or pay a separate fare.

Service typically runs from early morning into late evening, covering the main departure banks for international flights from T1 and T2 and LCC traffic at T3. Look for clearly marked "Terminal Shuttle" signs near the curbside bus bays at each terminal. Allow at least 20–30 minutes total if you are changing from T1 to T3 or T3 to T1, including walking to the stop and waiting for the bus.

The shuttle connects T1 (used by ANA, many Star Alliance airlines, and some others) with T2 (JAL and oneworld carriers) and T3 (low-cost carriers like Jetstar Japan and others). Buses loop through the terminals in a fixed order, so you may pass an intermediate stop before your own. Expect short waits of around 5–10 minutes in daytime; late at night and very early morning, head straight to the stop as intervals can stretch longer.

The Inter-terminal Shuttle Bus sits landside, so you stay outside security the whole time. If you are connecting from a domestic arrival in T3 to an international flight in T1 or T2, you will catch the shuttle first, then clear security and immigration in your departure terminal. For tight international–international connections within NRT, budget at least 60 minutes if a terminal change is involved.

At each terminal, digital signs in both Japanese and English list the next Inter-terminal Shuttle Bus arrival time. The stops are grouped with other local buses, so check the signboards carefully for “Terminal Shuttle" instead of city routes with fares posted in yen. If in doubt, ask airport staff at the curb; they usually point directly to the correct bay number on the pavement.

One practical tip: if you land in T3 with checked bags and an onward flight in T1 or T2, use cart-friendly elevators near Arrivals to reach the shuttle stop, since some outdoor paths include curbs and ramps that slow you down with luggage.
