Gate-side hot gyutan before low-cost carrier flights
Inside Terminal T3 after security, Sendai Tanya Rikyu serves beef tongue dishes from 05:00 to 21:00 (last order). It’s one of the more “proper meal” options in this LCC-heavy terminal, so it stays busy around early morning departures and the 18:00–20:00 wave. Expect counter seating plus a few small tables, more quick-stop than linger-and-chat.
The menu leans hard into Sendai-style gyutan: grilled beef tongue sets over rice, with soup and small sides. Prices sit in typical airport-Japanese range, roughly in the mid-¥1,000s, so not cheap, not outrageous. If you want something faster, look for simple rice bowls and lighter sides rather than the full set meals.
Service is quick by sit-down standards, but you still want 25–30 minutes spare before boarding at distant T3 gates like 161 or 164. Staff start winding down the kitchen at the 21:00 last-order time, so late-night arrivals should not count on a hot meal here. Menu boards have photos, which helps if you’re ordering in a rush between domestic and international hops.
Watch your tray space: portions with rice, soup, and pickles can crowd the compact counter, especially if you’re carrying a backpack. If your flight boards from the far end of T3’s long walk, pay first, eat at pace, and head straight to security-side restrooms before you commit to the 10–15 minute hike to the bus gates.
