Gate-side electronics stop in T1 before security checks

Laox in Narita Terminal 1 sits landside, so you can pop in before security if you’re meeting someone or arriving early. It’s one of the bigger electronics-focused shops in T1, and staff are used to helping travellers match plugs and voltages for flights to the US, Europe, and Australia. Expect standard Japanese big-box pricing, not 100-yen store deals.

This Laox carries cameras, audio gear, gaming accessories, travel adapters, and small appliances, all under one roof in T1. You’ll also see the usual last-minute travel gear: power banks, SD cards, and basic headphones. Many items clearly list voltage (100–240V) and plug type, which helps if you’re flying out within a couple of hours and don’t want to guess.

Tax-free shopping is available here if your total hits the minimum spend (typically around ¥5,000 including tax), and you show a passport with a temporary-visitor stamp. Staff handle the tax paperwork at a dedicated counter in the store, which saves you from hunting down a separate desk elsewhere in Terminal 1. Keep the tax-free seals intact until you leave Japan.

Prices on big-ticket items like cameras or headphones often match what you’ll see in Tokyo city Laox branches, but you lose the chance to comparison-shop in Akihabara, which sits about 60 minutes from NRT by train. For small accessories under ¥3,000, the convenience of buying on-site in T1 usually outweighs any tiny city-center savings.

Plan one practical thing: check your plug type and voltage at home, then walk into Laox in T1 with a short list so you’re not browsing random gadgets 30 minutes before boarding.
