Big Macs in T2 when you just want something familiar
McDonald's in Narita Terminal 2 sits airside, so you’re fine once security is done and you’re at your gate area. It runs typical airport hours, roughly early morning to late evening, tracking the first and last departures out of T2. The layout is straight fast food: counter ordering, grab a tray, and hunt for a seat in the shared seating zone nearby.
Prices run higher than downtown Tokyo: think around ¥500–¥600 for a basic burger and closer to ¥800–¥1,000 for set meals with fries and a drink. You’ll see familiar staples like the Big Mac and McChicken plus Japan-only items that rotate in and out. If you want a quick breakfast before a 9:00 flight, the morning menu usually flips off around 10:30.
Soft drinks and coffee sit in the ¥150–¥350 range, and it’s an easy caffeine top-up if your airline doesn’t serve anything decent in economy. Portions track typical Japan McDonald’s sizing, a bit smaller than US standards. Card and contactless payments, including most foreign credit cards, generally work without drama.
Seating in this part of T2 can fill up around the 11:00–14:00 bank of departures, especially near the main gate clusters. If every table is taken, you can usually carry your bag and tray a short walk toward neighboring gates and grab a random open seat there. Service moves quickly; even with a visible line of 10–15 people, you’re often walking away in under 10 minutes.
One tip: if your flight leaves from a remote or satellite gate in T2, factor in a 10–15 minute walk after you pick up your order so you’re not sprinting with a paper bag and melting fries.
