Terminal 1 hosts 5 airlines.

1,220 m of runway and a single terminal building

Everything at Vance W. Amory International runs through one compact main terminal beside its 1,220 m (4,003 ft) runway. Commercial flights, island hoppers, and small private aircraft all share this building, so traffic ebbs and flows in waves tied to Cape Air, Coastal Air, St Barth Commuter, Trans Anguilla Airways, and Winair schedules.

Check-in and arrivals in the same small hall

The landside hall holds check-in counters for the five carriers serving Nevis, with counters typically opening around 90–120 minutes before each departure. Baggage claim sits only a few steps from the exit doors, so most passengers go from aircraft stairs to the curb in under 15 minutes once the small luggage carts roll in.

Single security lane and short walking distances

Security screening for the main terminal usually runs on just one lane, so a full Dash 8 or Twin Otter from Winair or Cape Air can briefly back things up. Even then, the walk from the entrance door through screening to the gate area takes only a few minutes because the entire terminal fits into one modest building facing the apron.

No listed restaurants, lounges, or shops inside

There are currently no catalogued restaurants, lounges, or retail shops inside the main terminal, so plan on arriving with water and snacks already in your bag. With no branded concessions and limited self-serve options, a 40-minute wait for a late inbound from St. Maarten or Antigua can feel longer than it looks on the departure board.

Regional island hops and short stage lengths

Most departures from the main terminal are short regional hops, often under 45 minutes of flying, to nearby islands like St. Maarten and Antigua on airlines such as Winair and St Barth Commuter. That short stage length means you can comfortably hold off on a full meal until you land at a larger hub with more facilities.

General aviation and commercial share the field

Nevis channels both general aviation and scheduled traffic through the same airfield, with Signature Aviation handling many private operations at TKPN while the public uses the main terminal. You may see business jets taxi past as your 9-seater or 19-seater boards from the same apron, all within a few hundred meters of the terminal doors.

Plan your timing around the flight banks

Because there’s only one terminal and limited on-site services, it pays to time your arrival around the known flight banks for Cape Air, Coastal Air, Trans Anguilla Airways, Winair, and St Barth Commuter. Aim for about 75–90 minutes before departure: early enough to clear the single security lane without stress, but not so early that you’re just sitting in a basic gate area with nothing to buy and nowhere else to go.
