Terminal 2 hosts 2 airlines.

Terminal 2 sits in a separate building from NBO’s main complex

Terminal 2 at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport sits apart from Terminal 1 and handles low-cost operations plus some charters, so it feels more like a satellite shed than part of the main concourse loop. RwandAir and Air Mauritius currently use this building, so check your ticket carefully to avoid being dropped at the wrong terminal entrance on arrival.

RwandAir departures from Terminal 2 usually check in on the ground floor, and the walk from curbside drop-off to the first security screening averages about 5–10 minutes, depending on queues. Air Mauritius flights follow the same basic flow, so mixed groups on WB and MK can still stay together through check-in and security.

The building’s distance from Terminal 1 means there is no quick indoor walk between terminals; expect a vehicle transfer of around 5–15 minutes if you land in Terminal 1 and depart from Terminal 2. If you have a self-connection between a Kenya Airways flight in Terminal 1 and RwandAir in Terminal 2, build at least a 2-hour buffer to deal with landside transfer and a fresh security check.

Terminal 2 is a bare-bones setup with no catalogued restaurants, so plan on eating before you get here or bringing food from Terminal 1 or Nairobi city. With no listed cafés or grab-and-go counters, even basics like coffee or bottled water can take extra time to hunt down, especially on late-night departures or early-morning wave banks.

There are no known lounges listed for Terminal 2, so do not count on Priority Pass or airline lounge access for RwandAir or Air Mauritius flights from this building. If you are used to Kenya Airways lounges in Terminal 1A, downgrade your expectations here: you are looking at standard gate seating and your own phone charger rather than showers and hot food.

Retail is minimal in Terminal 2, with no specific shops reliably catalogued, so do your duty-free runs in Terminal 1 or in town. That includes SIM cards and last-minute essentials like adapters or power banks, which are plentiful in Nairobi malls but patchy in this low-cost terminal building.

Check-in cut-off times on regional carriers can be strict, with some RwandAir counters closing 45–60 minutes before departure even on quieter nights. Build the buffer, arrive early, and treat Terminal 2 as a simple processing point: get your boarding pass, clear security, then sit close to your printed gate number in case stand changes are announced only by PA system.
