Swissport Aspire Lounge

Terminal 1B flyers land in Swissport Aspire when airline lounges are out of reach.

This independent lounge sits airside in Terminal 1B at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, mainly serving Priority Pass and contract customers. It works as a backup if you are not on Kenya Airways in Terminal 1A or not invited to the Turkish Airlines lounge in Terminal 1E. Think of it as a functional stop inside T1B rather than a destination you’d walk over from Terminal 1A or 1C to visit.

Location is straightforward: once you clear security for Terminal 1B, follow signs toward the international gates and then the generic “Lounges” markers; Swissport Aspire is one of the few non-airline lounges in this pier. Because NBO’s Terminal 1B and 1C are separated, you should only plan on using this lounge if your boarding pass shows a gate in Terminal 1B and you are already through that terminal’s checkpoints.

Hours vary a bit with the long-haul banks, but the lounge typically tracks Terminal 1B’s overnight international schedule and opens before the early-morning departures around 02:00–04:00. If you are on a late-night Europe or Middle East flight, expect the lounge to be operating while most of the terminal’s regular restaurants close down, giving you one of the last sit-down options before boarding.

Food and drink are standard for a contract lounge at NBO, with buffet-style hot items and basic snacks rotated around the main departure peaks rather than all day. Think simple hot dishes, a couple of cold options, and bottled soft drinks plus basic spirits and beer instead of any elaborate cocktail list. If you want a specific brand of wine or a made-to-order meal, you are better off grabbing it in the public areas of Terminal 1 before you head to 1B security.

Access usually runs on the typical Priority Pass and pay-at-the-door model, with walk-up pricing roughly in line with other third-party lounges in East Africa. If your airline hands you a Swissport invitation at check-in in Terminal 1, check whether your gate is physically in 1B before you commit, since trekking between sub-terminals at NBO can easily eat 15–20 minutes each way.

Practical tip: build at least a 20-minute buffer before boarding time to walk from Swissport Aspire back to the farthest Terminal 1B gates, since NBO sometimes calls flights early and security spot checks can slow down the last stretch to the jet bridge.
