Last shot at Myrtle Beach Tex-Mex before your flight

Gate-side in Terminal 1 post-security, Nacho Hippo Cantina Maxima is the airport branch of the local Myrtle Beach Tex‑Mex chain everyone recognizes from the beachfront. This is where people grab one more plate of loaded nachos and a margarita‑style drink before boarding. You’ll find it in the main departures area of MYR’s only terminal, so you won’t be hiking between concourses to get there.

Food leans Tex‑Mex bar fare: oversized nachos, tacos, quesadillas, and chips with salsa or queso. Portions run big enough that a single nacho platter can easily feed two average eaters, which is useful given airport pricing. Expect mains in the ballpark of $12–$18, more if you stack on extras like guac or double meat. It’s standard table service with a bar, so build in at least 35–45 minutes if you’re ordering more than a quick snack.

The bar is a draw here, with frozen and on‑the‑rocks tequila drinks plus beer and basic mixed drinks. This is one of the few spots past security at MYR where you can sit at a counter with a full drink menu instead of grabbing a canned beer from a fridge. Keep in mind that a specialty cocktail can easily run into the low teens per glass once tax and tip land.

Seating spills directly into the Terminal 1 concourse, so you’re eating in full view of nearby gates and boarding lines. That does make it easy to keep an eye on boarding zones for flights departing from neighboring gates in this compact terminal. Noise levels spike around mid‑day and late‑afternoon bank times, especially on peak summer beach days when MYR is full of vacation traffic.

Tip: if your departure is under 45 minutes away, skip table service and head straight to the bar for chips and a drink so you’re not sprinting to your gate in Terminal 1.
