Frequent flyers actually cheered when Sala Monteverdi closed for “restyling.”
This is Club SEA Sala Monteverdi in Terminal T1, historically the problem lounge in MXP. It sits in T1 with airline and Priority Pass access, often used as overflow when Sala Montale fills up or when contract guests need somewhere to sit.
Access runs through Club SEA rules: airline invitations from T1 carriers plus Priority Pass, instead of a simple walk-up bar. A day pass option exists but is listed as /map.day_pass, which tells you pricing is secondary here to bulk contract traffic.
The lounge used to rank so poorly that FlyerTalk’s main MXP thread flagged it as “awful,” and people were openly happy when the airport site marked it “Temporary Closure For Restyling.” During that closure, Sala Montale became the only Priority Pass lounge, confirming Monteverdi’s role as the spillover room rather than the flagship.
Location is in Terminal 1 (T1) airside, tagged in the airport map as /map.gate, so you stay post‑security and close to Schengen/Non‑Schengen flows depending on how they’re routing that day. Hours follow the airport listing at /map.hours, which usually track the main bank of departures rather than offering true 24/7 cover.
What regulars do: if they can get into Sala Montale in T1, they go there instead of Monteverdi. FlyerTalk posts hint that frequent flyers actively avoid Monteverdi when an airline-run space or Sala Montale is on the table, even if that means walking a few more gates in T1.
Watch out for expectations. The only detailed user comment in the MXP lounge thread labels Monteverdi “awful,” with the hope that restyling finally fixes seating, food and general wear. If you’re paying cash via /map.day_pass, this reputation should make you think twice before handing over a card.
One practical move: check at the T1 information screens or lounge desk which Club SEA room your airline or Priority Pass sends you to before you commit. If Monteverdi comes up and your boarding pass also allows Sala Montale in T1, walk to Montale instead and keep Monteverdi as the backup when everything else is packed.
