Twenty minutes to Freising: MVV Bus 635X trims the clock
MVV Bus 635X is the express version of the standard 635 line, cutting the Munich Airport–Freising run down to roughly 20–25 minutes at select times. It links Terminals 1 and 2 directly with Freising station, where you can pick up regional trains toward Regensburg, Landshut, or further into Bavaria. The express tag mainly means fewer in-between stops compared with the all-stops 635.
The 635X usually runs in weekday peaks and selected time windows, not as a full-day shuttle, so check the MVV timetable for your specific date and hour. Buses stop at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, using the same basic stop areas as the regular 635, so you don’t have to trek to a separate bay. If your train from Freising leaves on a fixed minute, saving even five minutes over the normal 635 can make a connection more realistic.
A single MVV ticket from the airport to Freising runs in the same price zone as the regular 635; you’re not paying a premium just because it’s labeled 635X. Tickets are available from MVV machines in the arrivals halls of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, from the airport rail station below the central area, or via the MVV app before you reach the curb. Validity covers both the bus ride and any onward local rail within the paid zones, so one ticket can take you from MUC to Freising Hbf and then onward on S-Bahn if needed.
Because the 635X shares stops with the standard 635, keep an eye on the front display and the printed line number at the stop pole; you want “635X Freising” rather than a 635 headed to some intermediate stop. If you miss an 635X, the usual 635 often follows within 20–30 minutes, so you’re not stranded, just slightly slower into Freising. MVV posts the exact departure minutes for each stop, so screen-shot the day’s schedule before you leave airport Wi‑Fi.
One practical tip: if you’re aiming for a specific regional train at Freising, work backwards from the train’s departure time and pad at least 10 minutes on top of the 635X scheduled runtime for traffic and bus bay delays at Terminals 1 and 2.
