MSY’s Economy option is the airport’s budget play: around $12/day versus roughly $22/day in Long Term, so a 5‑day trip comes in near $60 instead of breaking $100. It’s a remote setup with a shuttle, so you’re paying in time, not steps, to get to Terminal 1.

Rates start at $4 for the first 30 minutes, then $3 per additional half‑hour, capped at that $12 daily max. That cap is what makes it work for long leisure trips, especially if you’re parking for a full week or more and don’t care about walking distance.

The Economy option ties into the Park MSY Express Economy Garage at 900 Airline Drive, on the site of the old terminal. A shuttle runs to the current MSY terminal 24/7, so late arrivals after the last bank of flights aren’t an issue. Figure on a short ride instead of a walk to check‑in and security.

Payments are credit‑card only in Economy, which still throws some infrequent flyers who show up with just cash. The trade-off is quick exit at the gate once you’re back, especially on peak days after events or cruises when everyone tries to leave at once.

Regulars doing 5+ day trips intentionally use Economy / Park MSY Express to keep parking from doubling their ticket cost. They accept the shuttle and remote feel in exchange for that roughly $10/day discount versus the closer garages by Terminal 1.
